The unintended expat blogger behind Vivid Garden Pulse

Hi there, I'm Charlotte
I work as a project manager. A parent. An expat living in Delft, Netherlands.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What started as a temporary contract gradually opened a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn't part of the original plan. Like many expatriate relocations, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much larger.
The early months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines began to form. We found places that worked for us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Vivid Garden Pulse
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical insights from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- A tourism authority resource
- Sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Netherlands continues, as does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Delft or anywhere in Netherlands, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Cheers,
Charlotte
